PROBLEMS FACED BY ADOLESCENT GIRLS ON ATTENDING CLASSES DURING THEIR MENSTRUATION PERIOD - A SURVEY STUDY.πŸ“„ 

For the above study, I selected closed-ended questions as my tool. I prepared 30 questions under two objectives.

Objectives

(1) To understand the problems faced by adolescent girls on attending the classes during their menstrual periods.


On the basis of analysis, the investigator interpret that majority of students are not conscious about menstrual hygiene. Most of the students are not happy with the school atmosphere during menstruation. Majority of the students said that they did not get proper sanitation facilities or rest room in the school compound. Transportation became a burden for most of the students during their menstruation. Majority students are not aware about the “She pad scheme” in India nor do they take advice from a gynecologist about menstrual problems. Most of the students are not believe in the existing taboo in the society regarding menstruation and they did not think menstruation as a red line for their wishes. Majority of students are unable to get freely engaged in classroom as well as outdoor activities during menstruation. Many of the students said that menstrual holiday programme is a blessing for women and girls. Most of the students said that they have proper facility for disposal of pads in school compound while they did not prefer to make use of it. Majority students said that they did not have women’s cell in their school. Many of the students said that they did not get awareness class about adequate and sufficient menstrual hygiene management.


(2) To find out whether the current educational system supports the adolescent girls during menstruation by mentally and physically.

CONCLUSION

The analysis of the data collected shows that adolescent girls face many problems on attending classes during their menstruation. The current educational system also did not provide any special importance to the mental and physical support for girls during their menstruation. The investigator expresses this opinion from the detailed analysis of the data. The intention of the tool was to understand the problems faced by adolescent girls on attending the classes during their menstrual periods among high school adolescent girls. Majority of the students gave positive responses to most of the questions in the first objective, while the responses are exposed to percentage analysis, it become more valid and support the hypothesis. In the second hypothesis, majority students gave negative responses, it become more valid and support the hypothesis.
